JAMMU, July 22: J&K High Court Bar Association has decided to observe one day token strike tomorrow against Commercial Taxes Department (CTD) for levying services taxes on Advocates as Consultants.
This decision was taken in a meeting of J&K High Court Bar Association held under the chairmanship of its president MK Bhardwaj.
During the meeting, the speakers stressed upon the Commercial Taxes Department to reconsider its decision on this issue as the Advocates are not Consultants.
This action of the Department is not only unconstitutional, arbitrary, discriminatory and without jurisdiction but also an exception to other parts of the nation, as such is highly objectionable.
The meeting was attended by Sindhu Sharma, vice president, Ranjit S Jamwal, general secretary, Prem N Sadotra, joint secretary and Gurveer Singh, treasurer.
