POONCH, Nov 16: A cop was killed while six others sustained injured after escort vehicle of SSP Poonch rolled down into gorge at Drogian Dandi area, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Surankote.

As per police sources, the escort vehicle (gypsy) of SSP Poonch was on its way to Surankote from Bufliaz, when the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled down into gorge near Drogian Dandi area today evening, resulting into on the spot death of a cop and injuries to six others.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and with the help of locals started rescue operation.
All the injured persons were shifted to nearby hospital, from where four injured persons were referred to GMC Rajouri and GMC Jammu for advanced treatment.
The deceased cop was identified as SgCt Shoiab Ahmed, a resident of Nakamanghari Tehsil Mendhar District Poonch, while the injured were identified as SgCt Sham Lal (driver), SgCt Isthekar Ahmed, SgCt Pervaiz Ahmed Bhatti, SgCt Shamim Ahmed and SgCt Ghulam Mustafa.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Surankote and investigation started.
