Police rescues 10 bovines, seizes 2 vehicles

SAMBA, Nov 16: In continuation to its drive against bovine smuggling, Samba police has foiled an attempt to smuggle bovine by rescuing 10 animals in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal and Vijaypur respectively.
Acting on reliable information regarding transportation of bovines, a police party of PS Ghagwal laid a vehicle checking naka at Samotre Di Channi, Ghagwal link road and while checking signalled a Mahindra vehicle having Registration Number JKO8L-2281 coming via border road Kathua to stop.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated its speed. He later abandoned it at few meters away from the naka point and managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, five cattle were found laden inside it without any permission. In this regard, a case FIR No. 193/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
Similarly, in another incident police party of PS Vijaypur rescued five bovines at naka AIIMS Vijaypur which were being transported in a Mahindra load carrier bearing Registration Number JK08D-8358 which was moving towards Valley.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed of vehicle and abandoned it few meters away from the naka. However, the driver managed to escape from spot taking advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, five cattle were found laden inside it without any permission. In this connection, a case FIR No. 187/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation started.
All the cattle rescued in above mentioned incidents were shifted to a safer place. The vehicles used for transporting the bovines were seized on spot.
