380 kg poppy straw recovered, two peddlers held

JAMMU, Nov 17: Jammu Police achieved a major success today by recovering 380 kilograms of poppy straw from two drug peddlers during naka checking near TCP Nagrota.
According to a police spokesperson, the accused were coming in a vehicle bearing Registration Number PB10HH-6135. On getting prior inputs, an active naka was laid by dedicated police teams of police station Nagrota and SOG Jammu led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohd Showkat. The police team intercepted two suspects and on their search, 380 kg of poppy straw was recovered.
The accused were identified as Talwinder Singh son of Baldev Singh, resident of Dhalewal Chowk (Ludhiana) and Jagdeep son of Hans Raj of Tajpur (Ludhiana), the spokesperson said, adding, a case FIR Number 430/2021 U/S 8/15/25 NDPS Act was registered in this connection at police station Nagrota and accused were arrested.
The overall arrest and recovery was made under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh and further investigation of the case was going on.
Pertinent to mention here that since start of this year, Jammu Police has registered more than 209 FIRs, arrested more than 258 persons and seized 20.626 kg of charas, 1682.740 kg of poppy straw, 2.218 kg of heroin, 76.470 kg of ganja and 37096 intoxicant capsules.
