POONCH, Nov 20: Alleging failure of Public Health Engineering (PHE)/ Jal Shakti Department in providing adequate water supply, the residents of Surankote town today held strong protest.
The protestors raised slogans against the PHE Department and local administration for inaction. They alleged that public is suffering due to lack of regular supply of drinking water. Several times the matter was brought into the notice of the concerned authorities, but nothing has been done till today.
“We staged protests many times to highlight our grievance but no action was taken in this regard till date, ” the residents alleged.
The protesters blocked Surankote-Poonch road for about two hours. On receiving information of the protest, the police officials reached the spot where they talked to the protesters and assured them that their demand will be taken up with concerned authorities. The protestors demanded regular supply of drinking water in their area.
On the assurance, the public then lifted dharna from the road. They also sought intervention of DC Poonch in this regard.
