ICDS workers promoted as Supervisors go without salary

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 22: Exposing the claims of ‘good governance’ in J&K under Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, scores of ICDS workers who were promoted by the ICDS wing of the Social Welfare Department as supervisors in 2018, have not received salary for the last about 37 months despite performing their duties efficiently against the new post.
The aggrieved employee told the Excelsior the Social Welfare Department was openly violating all the norms and rules and not providing them salaries for the last over three years without any justified reason. They further alleged that their families have been made to face starvation while the officers at the helm of affairs are least bothered about their plight. Making mockery of the system, some senior officers in the department are running the affairs at their whims and fancies and there is no one to listen the plight of the victimized workers/employees.
The employees stated that despite holding the responsibility as ‘member secretary’ for procurement committee of various Panchayats for the purpose of food/nutrition, drawing the honorarium of AWWs and AWHs, conducting various surveys and playing a leading role for making awareness regarding Corona virus and other departmental related works, the helpless promoted ICDS Supervisors have been deprived of their legitimate right.
They further disclosed that despite High Court order to release the salary the department did not followed the court directive vide writ petition SWP number 840/2019 dated 19/11/2019.
They pointed out that the aggrieved employees called on Mission Director, Commissioner/ Secretary Social Welfare and even the Advisor to LG, Farooq Khan but despite their assurances the issue remained unresolved. They sought the intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary, A K Mehta into this urgent matter. They said that all the requisite formalities be cleared for providing them hiked salaries so that they could have a sigh of relief.
