JAMMU, Nov 22: Trikuta Nagar police today succeeded in apprehending one inter-district narco- smuggler.
According to a police official, a naka was established for routine checking at Sunjwan Morh, Bathindi. He said the police team deployed on naka checking signaled one person coming on foot from Narwal side, to stop but instead of stopping, he tried to run away from the spot.
“The man was chased away and subsequently over powered by the alert cops on duty. During search, 1.55 kg (75 challyan) of charas was recovered from his possession which he was carrying in a bag,” the official said, adding the accused was identified as Zakir Hussain son of Muzaffir Hussain, resident of Satrang Maidan (tehsil Mattan, district Anantnag) but he was presently living near Safa Valley in Bathindi area of Jammu.
He said in this connection, a case FIR number 376/2021 under Section 8/20 of NDPS Act was registered at police station Trikuta Nagar and further investigation started.
The arrest and recovery was made by a police team led by PSI Mohd Alyas (I/c police post Bathindi) under the guidance of Inspector Deepak Pathania (SHO Trikuta Nagar) under the supervision of Sajjad Sarwar, SDPO City East, Jammu.
