JAMMU, Nov 24: A delegation of Laghu Udyog Bharti led by Parveen Pargal here today met J&K Chief Secretary (CS), Arun Kumar Mehta.
The delegation raised the issues being faced by the industries in Jammu and said that withdrawal of toll tax exemption has created many problems for the industry.
“As per a notification turnover incentive budget is restricted to Rs. 50 crore per annum which is very meagre and is not sufficient to fulfil the need of all the existing MSMEs,” delegation members said adding that the budget of the incentive should be increased to Rs. 200 crore and the disbursement of the incentive should be on quarterly basis.
They also said that for Micro Units there is maximum capping of additional Rs. 10 lakh per unit per annum which should also be removed to allow the micro, small industries units to grow, expand and create more jobs.
The delegation suggested that there should be a reservation in the allotment of land and small chunks within the range of 20 km (approximately) from the main city identified by the government should be reserved for micro, small units (those establishing their units from ½ kanal to 8 kanals).
Delegation members also said that in case of large chunks identified by the government (more than 250 kanal) at least 25 per cent of the total area is to be reserved for micro and small units (which are establishing their units from ½ kanal up to 8 kanal).
They said that for finished products of the industries of J&K the government and other departments such as PDD, Flood Control, Forest Department, Social Welfare, PHE, Education Department etc are major buyer.
They also said that ownership rights can be given on a one-time nominal cost which needs to be reasonable as the units have already paid the premium at the time of allotment.
They also demanded that GST linked incentive be considered for existing industries under IDS 2021 and interests of local printers should be safeguarded as after the formation of UT all the govt printing jobs in J&K have been ordered to be done from govt press.
Sudesh Kumar Gupta, general secretary; Pranab Gupta, finance secretary and senior member, Rajesh Jain were also present in the delegation.
