Marine Career Counselling Centre felicitates Deck Cadets

JAMMU, July 24: To encourage young generation for joining Merchant Navy as officer, Sunrise (Marine Career Counselling Centre) organized a felicitation programme for Deck Cadets  who are sponsored in  leading Shipping companies across  the world for August-2013 batch from Jammu and Kashmir.
Capt Vishal Kotwal, who  was the chief guest of the programme,  said this was  the best field  and appealed the young generation of J&K to join the Merchant Navy. He appreciated the efforts made by Sunrise and whole of the team and suggested that similar programmes should be organized in every Tehsil and Distt Headquarters of the State so that maximum number of student could get more and more awareness about the Merchant Navy.
Rajesh Sharma, CEO of the Sunrise, said that they were  in Marine Career Counselling since 2006 and giving guidance, awareness, counseling to the youth of J&K to join Merchant Navy as officer. We are planning to open the office in each district  of the State so that maximum number of students can join this profession, he added and appealed  Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to open a Marine College in J&K as the local students have to go out of the State for training.
Manpreet Kour SEO of Sunrise informed that the girls were  also entering in this field.  After one  year training you start earning approximately  Rs  20,000 to Rs 40,000 per month and after 18 month sea experience and passing out 2nd mate examination,  you start earning Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 lakh per month approximately. Chief Officer’s salary is Rs 2 to Rs 4 lakh and after a few experience, Captain of the ship starts earning Rs 7-10 lakh per month in a very short age, she explained.
The Sunrise Educational Trust is also sponsoring the students who secure 85 percent to 90 percent in PCM  subjects from 12th class and belong to weaker section of the society.
