JAMMU, Nov 25: The displayed persons of District Mirpur settled in Jammu, Delhi, Pathankot, and Kathua today observed “Mirpur Fall Day” in remembrance of more than 18000 males, females and children, who were mercilessly slaughtered by the Pakistani Army and tribals during attack on Mirpur District in 1947.
In this connection, Mirpur community settled at Sarwal Colony Jammu took out a Prabhat Pheri from Sarwal Mandir Chowk, here in the early morning at 6 am. A large number of people, both males and females, participated in the procession.
After taking a round of entire Sarwal Colony, the Prabhat Pheri culminated at Mandir Chowk where the gathering was addressed by Amar Chand Gupta and Ram Saroop Gupta.
Amar Chand Gupta narrated the whole episode regarding fall of Mirpur District and also appealed the young generation to participate in the Prabhat Pheries every year in the memories of all who sacrifice their lives for the sake of motherland.
After culmination of Prabhat Pheri, people re-assembled at Mahesh Pura Chowk to pay a rich tribute to martyrs of 1947 at the Mirpur Shahidi Samarak near Govt Medical College, Jammu.
Those who paid tributes to 1947 martyrs and took part in the Prabhat Pheri, included Dr Netar Parkash, Vijay Kumar Gupta, Rajinder Gupta, Bhavesh, Ramnik Gupta, Ashok Gupta, Vijay Gupta, Satish Gupta, Narinder, Jagdish (Raju) , Chetan Gupta, Dinesh Gupta, Dr Raj Kumari, Sangita Gupta, Suman Lata Swarana, Nirmal Gupta and others.
