Notices served to 700 PMAY beneficiaries

POONCH, Nov 25: Rural Development Department has served notices to about 700 Pardhan Mantri Aawas Yojna beneficiaries for not starting construction work of houses in Mandi and Loran blocks of Poonch district.
Reports said, despite disbursement of first installments since long beneficiaries had not started construction work of their houses which is the violation of PMAY guidelines and the notices have been served to 700 beneficiaries for starting their construction work within one week.
Block Development Officer Mandi, Mazahir Hussain Shah who is also holding the additional charge of Block Loran said that department has identified the PMAY beneficiaries who had received their first installments in different financial years and have not yet started construction work of their houses.
He said that notices have been served as an intimation and beneficiaries have been asked to start their work within days. Amount of first installment shall be recovered if beneficiaries will not start construction work of their houses after receiving notices, he said.
“Motive is not to recover amount of first installment but to make sure that beneficiaries shall construct their houses,” BDO added
