JAMMU, Nov 26: The 72nd Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) was celebrated today with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor in both the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Day was celebrated in the High Court of J&K and Ladakh and in all district courts of both the UTs by reading the preamble to the Constitution to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution. In Jammu wing of the High Court, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur led the reading of the preamble to the Constitution while in Srinagar wing, Justice Sanjeev Kumar led the reading of the Preamble. At all District Headquarters in J&K and Ladakh, similar ceremonies were organized where the Principal District Judges led the reading of Preamble to the Constitution.
J&K BJP SC Morcha in the leadership of Morcha president Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat celebrated the “Samvidhan Divas” at the Party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. Former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta, BJP general secretary Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, State Morcha prabhari Santokh Singh Gumtala, Headquarter Incharge Priya Sethi, former MLA Neelam Langeh, chief spokesperson Sunil Sethi, spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan, All Morcha Incharge Munish Sharma and SC Morcha prabhari Jaidev Rajwal addressed the programme.
To celebrate the Constitution Day, a function was organized by SC Department of JKPCC headed by Karan Bhagat, at PCC HQ, Jammu. Raman Bhalla, vice president JKPCC, presided over the function. Mula Ram (party vice-president) was the chief guest and Yogesh Sawhney (general secretary) was the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Raman Bhalla said that the Constitution is not a mere lawyers’ document, it is a vehicle of life, and its spirit is always the spirit of age.” Mula Ram and Yogesh Sawhney also spoke on the occasion.
Jammu and Kashmir Police celebrated Samvidhan Divas across the UT. The main function was held in the premises of Police Headquarters. The function was presided over by the Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh, while ADGP Headquarters M K Sinha read out the Preamble of the Constitution of India. Meanwhile AIG (Training/Policy) J S Johar read out the Preamble to over 100 trainees/NCB officers at the Police auditorium Gulshan Ground where a specialized training course is going on. Similar functions were held by various wings/units of J&K Police throughout the UT.
The office of the Dean Students’ Welfare, Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organized a “Preamble” reading ceremony at University campus to commemorate the day of adoption of our Indian constitution. The program was chaired by Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor. All the faculty, staff, researchers and students participated in the ceremony.
Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized a lecture “Constitution of India: Safeguarding Democracy and Secularism,” to commemorate the Constitution Day. Addressing the gathering, VC Prof Farooq Ahmad Shah described the Constitution as sacrosanct, comprehensive and complete in all respects and one among the best in the world. The participants also took a pledge on the occasion, which was administered by the Registrar, Prof M Afzal Zargar.
To celebrate the Day, The Law School, University of Jammu organized an oath-taking ceremony to pledge to uphold the Fundamental Duties enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Prof Manoj K Dhar, Vice-Chancellor of the University was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar and Dean Faculty of Law was the guest of honour. Authored by Dr Bindu Sangra, a book titled “Expanding Horizons of Article 21 of Indian Constitution: A Critique” was also released at the event. Earlier, Prof Manju Jamwal Director of The Law School presented welcome address. Dr Seema Rohmetra conducted the proceedings and Dr Monika Bhardhwaj presented vote of thanks.
The University of Kashmir (KU) organized a special function to celebrate the Constitution Day. Vice-Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad chaired the function. Addressing students and faculty members on the occasion, Prof Talat said the country’s Constitution is not merely a document but a great vision and mission concerning the welfare and betterment of citizens.
On the occasion of Constitution Day, National Service Scheme was inaugurated in online/offline mode at Central Sanskrit University, Shri Ranvir Campus, Jammu. Shakti Pathak, Director, Special Security Force Raj Bhawan J&K, was the chief guest at the event while Deputy Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Dr Udham Das Sharma was the guest of honour. The program was presided over by the Director of the Campus, Prof Madan Mohan Jha.
The Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervor and zeal in Kargil. As a part of the celebrations, Preamble reading ceremonies were organized at the Council Secretariat, LAHDC, Kargil, Conference Hall Baroo Kargil and all the Government offices/ institutions and other establishments in the district where Executive Councilors and Councillors and all the officers and officials of different departments read out the Preamble of the Constitution of India. The main function in the district was held at the Conference Hall Baroo Kargil where the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad read out the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.
The celebrations of the Constitution Day also held in Leh district. Advisor Ladakh, Umang Narula along with all the Administrative Secretaries participated in the reading of the Preamble to the Constitution at the UT Secretariat. Earlier, the Advisor along with the Administrative Secretaries participated in the celebratory function taking place at the Central Hall of the Indian Parliament in New Delhi through live streaming. The event was attended by Principal Secretary Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner/ Secretary, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Divisional Commissioner Saugat Biswas and Secretaries Preet Pal Singh, Padma Angmo, Mehboob Ali and Ravinder Kumar.
Bhaderwah and Kishtwar Campuses of JU organized an online lecture on ”Permeable of Constitution of India” to mark the Constitution Day. Prof Rahul Gupta, Rector Bhaderwah Campus and Prof Neeru Sharma, convener NSS, Campus Units presented the theme of the lecture. Professor Rekha Choudhary, the invited speaker of the event gave a very engaging lecture on the topic of the event.
Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri celebrated the Constitution Day with patriotic fervor. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Akbar Masood (Vice Chancellor of the University) stressed upon the faculty, staff, students and scholars of the University to follow the Preamble of the Constitution and always work for strengthening the national ethos.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar celebrated Constitution Day at Common Hall. The event was presided over by Prof M F Wani (Dean Research and Consultancy). The reading of the Preamble and the pledge administration (both in Hindi and English) took in front of faculty, students, and staff of the Institute.
Lawyers practicing in High Court and Subordinate Courts in Jammu held programmes in J&K High Court Bar Room and in the open lawn of the High Court to celebrate the Constitution Day. In the High Court, the programme was presided over by president of the J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu Senior Advocate Mohinder Bhardwaj. HA Saddiqui Senior AAG read out the Preamble and Advocate Varun Kotwal read out Fundamental Duties provided in Article 51-A of the Constitution.
The Day was celebrated in P G College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu under the patronage of College Principal, Prof (Dr) Sangita Nagari. Event coordinator Dr Pooja Charak read the Preamble of the Constitution, wherein all the staff members and students joined her for a pledge ceremony.
Samvidhan Diwas was celebrated in Government MAM College with great zeal and enthusiasm. The function started with reading out of the Preamble by Vijeeta Anand, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science. The function was attended by Dr GS Rakwal (College Principal) and the entire faculty of the College.
The Constitution Day was celebrated by the officers and jawans at Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu wherein a simple function was organized which was presided over by Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone. ADGP, Mukesh Singh read out Preamble of the Constitution. Meanwhile, in Jammu Zone, Police celebrated the Day at all Districts, where the concerned Police heads led the police officers and jawans participated in pledge taking ceremony.
Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur celebrated the Day in the Academy complex. Mohan Lal (SSP), Deputy Director (Indoor, Training and Administration) read the Preamble of the Constitution. A large number of police officers/officials including Suraj Singh Deputy SP (R&D/ADO), KK Sharma Deputy SP (Outdoor/Admn), Tahir Hussain Deputy SP (Indoor) and Ramesh Kataria (Deputy SP and Private Secretary to Director Police Academy) were present on the occasion.
Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) held Preamble reading ceremony to commemorate “Samvidhan Divas”. While speaking on the occasion, Rajinder Singh Rahi (SP), Vice Principal PTTI Vijaypur, enlightened the objective behind the observance of this day. Among others, Sajjad Ahmad Khan, Deputy SP (Indoor/PIO), Satish Kumar and Deputy SP (Admn/Outdoor) were present on the occasion.
NSS unit of Government College of Education celebrated the 72nd anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, otherwise known as ‘Constitution Day’ or ‘Samvidhan Diwas’.
Dr Kulvinder Kour, Principal of GCOE emphasized the importance of Constitution Day and highlighted the role of those who contributed to the development of the Indian Constitution.
NSS Programme Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal exhorted the students to acquaint themselves with the fundamental rights and duties and take a pledge to always abide by the Constitution.
The students of the GCOE enthusiastically took part in the pledge taking ceremony.
The whole program was adroitly conducted by Dr Shubhra Jamwal along with Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Seema Kumari, and Prof. Shapia Shameem Bhatti.
NSS unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah celebrated the Day by organizing a symposium on the topic “Constitution is the Foundation of Democracy”. The participants in the symposium threw light on the importance of Constitution in establishing participative democracy in India. Later, the students and faculty members took pledge of Fundamental Duties.
To mark the occasion, GDC Kalakote organized an offline lecture on the topic “Awareness about Constitution”. The lecture was attended by all the students of the college as well as the faculty members. The Preamble of the Constitution was read by one and all in the College.
The Day was also celebrated in GDC Marh under the patronship of the Principal of the College, Prof Aekta Gupta. The pledge was also taken by all the staff members and students as a mark of respect to the Preamble of Constitution of India. An informative and brief lecture was delivered by Prof Sachin Bhagat (HoD Political Science).
GDC Basohli celebrated the Constitution Day under the patronage of Dr Nidhi Kotwal, Principal of the College. Tilak Raj Thappa, ADC Basohli, was the chief guest on the occasion. Other officials from various departments, college faculty and students were also present on the occasion.
The celebrations also held in GDC Dudu Basantgarh. On the occasion, the College organized an offline Quiz Competition on the topic Indian Constitution. All The students of the college participated actively in the competition. Earlier, Principal of the college, faculty members and the students took pledge on the Preamble of the Constitution.
The Constitution Day was celebrated by Government GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar in collaboration with College IQAC by organizing a webinar. Senior most faculty, HoD Computer Applications and Co-ordinator of IQAC read the text of the Preamble. Prof Ritika, HoD Political Science, the keynote speaker of the webinar spoke on the philosophy of the constitution which is in the preamble itself.
GDC Kotranka celebrated the by organizing an intra-college debate competition on the theme “Freedom of Speech and its Limitation”. Chief guest of the event was Surender Mohan Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kotranka. Principal along with the staff and students read the Preamble of the Constitution.
To celebrate the Day, GDC Ukhral organized a seminar on the topic “Philosophy of Indian Constitution”. Principal of the College Prof (Dr) Ranvijay Singh, in his address, highlighted the contributions of the framers of Indian Constitution and exhorted upon the students to follow and cherish the constitutional values and ideas.
National Constitution Day was celebrated at Government College for Women Parade Ground Jammu where the NSS Unit in collaboration with Department of Political Science organized a seminar on the theme ‘We the people’. The event was organized under the supervision of College Principal, Dr S P Sarswat and about 50 volunteers participated in the seminar.
GDC Paloura (Mishriwala) celebrated the Day and the programme started with the reading of Preamble by the College staff and students. Tributes were paid to Dr B R Ambedkar. Prof Ramneek Kaur, College Principal laid emphasis on awareness about rights and duties as Indian citizens.
GCW Bhagwati Nagar organized a symposium on “Indian Constitution: issues and significance” to commemorate National Constitution Day. The event started with the reading of the Preamble to the Constitution by the staff and students of the College. Principal of the College, Prof Minnie Sharma inaugurated the event and also addressed the students.
In order to commemorate the Constitutional Day, NSS unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra organized a pledge ceremony in which GDC Principal, Prof (Dr) Monika Sharma, staff and students participated and pledged to maintain the equality, fraternity, sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
GDC Nagrota celebrated Constitution Day to commemorate the adoption of Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on November, 26, 1949 which came into force on January 26, 1950. College Principal, Dr Nalini Pathania, all the faculty members and students participated in the Preamble reading ceremony.
The celebrations were also held at GDC Sunderbani under the overall supervision of its Principal, Prof (Dr) Vandana Gupta. A pledge ceremony was held on the occasion.
GDC Thannamandi celebrated the Constitution Day and the ceremony of Preamble reading was held in which all the students and staff members were present. This was followed by a lecture by Prof Fatima.
NSS Unit of GDC Ramnagar celebrated National Constitution Day under the patronage of Dr Udhey Bhanu, College Principal. NSS volunteers Pritam Kumar, Suhani Gupta and Kavita Sharma expressed their views on the topic ‘Constitutional Values among Citizens’.
GDC (Boys) Kathua celebrated Constitution Day under the supervision of College Principal, Prof Raj Kiran Sharma. The programme was organized by NSS Programme Officers, Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Ritu Kumar Sharma and Prof Neha Bandral. Reading of Preamble of the Constitution by the staff, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, students was part of celebrations.
The Day was also celebrated by GDC Mahanpur wherein the College Principal, Dr R K Koul enlightened students about the significance of Constitution Day and importance of developing constitutional values among citizens of the country.
Reasi Police celebrated Constitution Day in all police stations and police posts of the District. The main function was organized in District Police Lines Reasi and it was presided over by Shailender Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi. He read Preamble of the Constitution and administered pledge to uphold the fundamental duties to the officers and officials present there.
To celebrate the Day, police authorities in Rajouri organized pledge ceremonies in all the police stations, police posts, sub division offices and district police office. SSP Rajouri Sheema Nabi Qasba said that police is a law enforcement agency and works day and night under the constitution of India.
J&K IMPARD, under the leadership of Saurabh Bhaghat, Director General, celebrated the Constitution Day. The reading of Preamble of the Constitution was held and a similar function was also held at IMPARD Regional Centre, Jammu.
Department of Horticulture, Kashmir celebrated the Constitution Day and to commemorate it a pledge taking ceremony was held at Directorate of Horticulture Kashmir wherein Director General, Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat administrated the pledge.
Chenab Valley Workers Union (CVWU) celebrated the 72th Constitution Day in an impressive function held at district headquarters Doda. The function was presided over by the Des Raj Manhas accompanied by president of the Union Fareed Ahmed Sheikh.
The EPFO Regional Office, Jammu celebrated the momentous event of adoption of the Indian Constitution by patriotic fervor. All officers and staff observed the Day by reciting the Preamble of the Constitution. Regional PF Commissioner – I, Rizwan Uddin among other staff shared their views on importance of the Constitution for the organization and nation as a whole.
In order to celebrate the Constitution Day, the Preamble of the Constitution was read at CVPPPL Corporate Office & Projects. All the employees of the Company participated in event. Reading of the Preamble was led by Rajat Gupta, Managing Director CVPPPL along with other senior officers.
To celebrate the Day, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan presented Dogri Musical Concert ‘Gantantar Humara Kirtiman’. The programme was inaugurated by VK Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity. The chief guest threw light on the importance of Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties in India.
Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir leader, Sunil Dimple staged a protest demonstration on Indian Constitution Day demanding restoration of Statehood to J&K with special status.
