JAMMU, July 25: Senior vice president, National Conference (NC) and former Minister, Surjit Singh Slathia today expressed confidence that NC is poised for a big win in 2014 elections and complimented the leaders and the workers for galvanizing the party at the grass root level and making it responsive to the aspirations of the people.
“This momentum has to be further strengthened by expanding out-reach of the party in far off and remote areas”, Slathia said while addressing a huge public gathering at Bari Brahmana in Samba district.
He said that the report card of Omar led Government stands testimony to the agenda of the NC to ensure the overall and equitable development of all the three regions of the State.
Slathia asked the party workers to generate the awareness among the people about welfare schemes initiated by the Government for the empowerment of common masses.
Referring to the Right to Information and Public Service Guarantee Acts, the former Minister said that the Government had already taken revolutionary measures to ensure the transparency in working of administration and make administration responsible to the people.
Mentioning the Government’s Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for the Youth (SKEWPY), the NC leader said that it takes care of educated unemployed besides identification of vacancies in various Government Departments for expeditious recruitment.
Urging the people for extending their full support in developmental and welfare initiatives, Slathia cautioned the people against the machinations of the disruptive forces who were hell bent upon creating wedge between the people in the name of religion, region and caste.
