UDHAMPUR, Nov 29: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), J&K, Hirdesh Kumar today visited famous tourist village Panchari and launched awareness campaign on Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme and also flagged off heritage trekking from Panchari to Patnitop for generating awareness among voters at Tehsil Panchari of District Udhampur.
BDC Chairman, Jeevan Sharma; DDC Councillor, Jasvir Singh; Additional District Development Commissioner, Kanta Devi; CEO PDA, Sher Singh; Deputy District Election Officer, Dr Shavi Sharma and other District and Sectoral officers besides PRIs of adjoining panchayats were present during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO, Hirdesh Kumar said that objective of organising this campaign is to strengthen our democratic system by creating awareness among the young and future voters about the importance of their vote. He added that involvement of young voters in electoral process is of utmost importance for vibrant democracy.
Stressing on the enrollment and registration of all the eligible voters of the district, the CEO urged all the participants to generate awareness among all the eligible voters in their surrounding areas for enrollment. He said that the future of our nation depends on our youth.
While highlighting on the objectives of the SVEEP, the CEO asked the officers to create awareness among electors regarding the importance of their participation in electoral process. He called upon the youth to generate maximum awareness about electoral system in their surrounding areas for making democracy a strong pillar for their better socio economic status.
The CEO directed the designated officers for reaching out to every household and every voter in different ways for information dissemination and error free enrollment of voters. During the event, the election department also created awareness among the locals regarding the online services of the department.
Later, the CEO also flagged off Heritage trek from Panchari to Patnitop. The Heritage walk / trek will pass through Sankri Devta, Ladha Dhar, Natha top and will finally culminate at Patnitop.
