Martyr Chuni Lal remembered on his 14th Martyrdom Day

AKHNOOR, Dec 4: Batwal Youth Development Committee (BYDC) Jammu remembered Sena Medal Chuni Lal Sandhu of 55 Rashtriya Rifles on his 14th Martyrdom Day, here today.
Hav Chuni Lal Sandhu, a resident of Tacharwan village of Akhnoor was martyred in a militant flush out operation in Kashmir’s Pulwama district on 4th December 2007.
After one year of his martyrdom, he was awarded with Sena Medal (Posthumously) for displaying most conspicuous bravery, demonstrating battlefield leadership and laying down his life in the line of duty in the year of 2008, said Hony Captain Kamal Dass Kaith.
Speaking on occasion, BYDC chairman RL Kaith said, “We are proud of our martyrs and we should be ready to make every sacrifice for the sake of our country.”
In the end, a resolution was passed unanimously to urge Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for renaming Government Higher Secondary School, Nardhiwala Tacharwan after martyr Chuni Lal Sandhu.
Family members of the martyr soldier as well prominent persons of the area were present during the event.
