FIR registered after Khair trees felling in Purmandal

SAMBA, Dec 4: The police today registered a case after felling of many green `Khair’ trees in Purmandal Range of Samba Forest division.
Official sources said that some timber smugglers allegedly felled over a score of Khair trees at two different locations in Purmandal Forest Range of Samba Forest Division. The locals of the area informed DFO concerned, Som Dutt Khajuria about the matter. He directed Range Officer, Salim Malik to visit the area and assess the damage caused to the forest.
SHO, Purmandal when contacted there are two different locations where Khair trees have been felled by some people. He said a case FIR No. 33/ 2021 has been registered in this connection and investigation started.
DFO Samba Som Dutt claimed that cognizance of the matter has been taken and RO was directed to lodge an FIR. He said the accused could not be identified so far, DFO claimed that he personally visited the area and police was investigating the matter.
