SRINAGAR, July 28: People’s Democratic Party patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that if the people elect his party to power, he will show a roadmap for the resolution of the dispute as per the aspirations of all those who are a party to the dispute.
“I have a roadmap in mind. If people of Jammu and Kashmir elect the PDP in the coming Assembly elections, I will show a roadmap for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue,” Sayeed said while addressing his party workers on the party’s 14th Foundation Day at its headquarters here.
Mufti said Jammu and Kashmir issue cannot be put under the rug. “We have to address it, we cannot ignore it. I will motivate not only the Governments at the Centre, but also people of India for its resolution with your support.”
“I am talking of that resolution which will be acceptable to the people of the State, people of India and people of Pakistan,” Mufti said.
The PDP patron said that for the resolution, “we have to take all the people involved in the dispute on board.”
“I will take out the people of Jammu and Kashmir out of the political quagmire if people support us in the elections,” he said.
Lashing out at the ruling National Conference, Mufti said that people of the State have no expectations from them. “Despite being in power, NC has failed to address the grievances of people like providing electricity. Corruption is rampant in the State, governance is not visible, and there is no accountability in the Government.”
Later, talking to reporters on the sidelines of the function, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, all the leaders of India, Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir, including separatists, must sit together on the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
“I think we can resolve the issue if all the leaders of India, Pakistan, and state’s leadership, including separatists, sit together for its resolution,” the PDP president said.
In reply to a question on visiting Pakistan on 14th September to attend Pugwash conference, she expressed her happiness and said: “I hope Nawaz Sahrief ‘s role will be very positive in improving relation with India. And as per reports, he has expressed his willingness to improve relations with India.”
Asked will PDP accept the invitation of NC leaders over forming a united political platform by Kashmir based political parties, she said how NC can invite us when they are discredited among public.
“What has the NC achieved in the last five years of being in power? They have not been able to talk with the New Delhi about the resolution of Jammu and Kashmir issue. The party has worsened the atmosphere in Kashmir. And they have not taken any action in punishing the perpetrators of 2010 youth killings. Human rights violations are on rise. The dust about Gool killing had not settled down, a minor girl has been gang raped in Kishtwar and Government has failed to stop these violations.”
Mehbooba rebuked the 1 rupee statement of NC patron Farooq Abdullah and said that such statements are a scale to measure that NC and its leaders are far away from the ground realities of the public they are facing amid inflation in food prices.
“They (NC leaders) have always enjoyed lavish life. They don’t realize how people, especially, poor people live when prices of basic food items is rising and inflation is at its peak,” she said.
Earlier, PDP general secretary Dilawar Mir, Tariq Hamid Qarra also addressed to the workers at the function.
PDP spokesman Naeem Akhtar, National spokesman Sameer Koul, senior leaders  Asiya Naqash, Altaf Bukhari, Khursheed Alam and Ghulam Hussain were among those present at the 14th Foundation Day function of the party.
