Srinagar, Dec 15: Police today said to have arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and recovered a huge quantity of a contraband substance from his possession.
Police Station Srigufwara received specific information that one person namely Sajad Ahmad Raina son in law of Mohd Afzal resident of Khiram Srigufwara has indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded a large number of narcotic substances in his residential house.
“Acting on this information, a search team headed by SHO PS Srigufwara along with Executive Magistrate concerned raided the said location,” police said.
It said that during the search, the team recovered about 10Kgs of Charas Chura and 1.4Kgs of Charas powder and the accused person was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
