DSS condemns ‘desecration’ of Jambulochan memorial

JAMMU, Dec 17: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) has condemned alleged desecration of Raja Jambulochan memorial near Civil Secretariat here.
In a press conference today Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, DSS president claimed that Raja Jambulochan memorial is lying incomplete with the all important replica of goat missing from the site for last several days but no notice has been put up by concerned authorities at the venue for general information of the public about why the statue is not there and when it will be reinstalled.

Charak informed that as soon as he noticed the absence of the statue, the matter was inquired and it came to fore that the statue was found damaged and therefore lifted for repairs work.
He regretted that neither the concerned persons in the Government nor the political leaders and not even the so called champions of Jammu’s culture and heritage have taken a note of the memorial lying incomplete for days.
Charak also flayed parking of scores of security vehicles around this memorial.
The DSS leader said, earlier the replica of sword of General Zorawar Singh statue lay broken at General Zorawar Singh Chowk in Gandhi Nagar for several months until he pointed it out to the concerned authorities and got it repaired.
He said that Jammu Development Authority and Jammu Municipal Corporation should install a properly visible and permanent inscription in bold letters highlighting the Chowk as General Zorawar Singh Chowk.
On deplorable condition of Gandhi Bhawan Complex adjoining Civil Secretariat, Jammu, Charak urged upon the administration to take appropriate measures to prevent its misuse for idle parking.
Prem Sagar Gupta, Brig. M.S Jamwal, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak and others were also present in the press conference.
