SRINAGAR, July 30: A workshop on Usage and Applications of Digital Signature Certificates (DSCs) was organized by the State Information Technology Department at Amar Singh College here today.
The workshop was inaugurated by Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone, who in his address appreciated the initiative of JAKEGA and Information Technology Department to bring awareness of technology in achieving secured work flow management of administrative processes in Higher Education Department.
On the occasion, KB Aggarwal, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, interacted with the participants and emphasised on the use of paper-less based Governance applications in the department for which over 60 Digital Signature Certificates were distributed to the participants.
Shafqat Bashir, Principal Consultant, IT Department, explained the e-Governance roadmap in the State of J&K, under National e-Governance Plan and highlighted the need of usage of Digital Signature Certificates.
Munish Chandan explained the process of integration of DSCs with the existing and upcoming e-Governance applications in the State Government. M Sadashiv Puri, Alliance Partner and Local Registration Authority of (n) code solutions explained the Public Key Infrastructure technology, the need and mechanism of usage of Digital Signature Certificates for various applications.
In a query raised by Minister, Puri explained the dual security based on hardware authentication added by password protection.
The workshop concluded with submission of additional 100 application forms for issuance of Digital Signature Certificates under the management of Prof (Dr) MY Peerzada, Principal, Amar Singh College. The workshop was attended by Prof Nissar Ali, Advisor to Higher Education, Dara Singh, Additional CEO, JAKEGA, the administrative staff of Higher Education Department, IT Department and Principals of various Colleges across the State.
