Govt teacher arrested for cheating, taking bribe on name of police

RAMBAN, Dec 21: Police arrested a Government teacher for cheating and taking bribe on the name of police.
As per police sources, yesterday a written complaint was filed at Police Station Ramban by a person namely Kali Singh, son of Ganga Ram of Ganote stating that two days back his brother-in-law namely Sanjay Singh was called for enquiry at Police Station Ramban in some case and to safely handover him back, husband of the Sarpanch (Panchayat Ganote) namely Narinder Singh (Government teacher), son of Brij Lal of Ganote was called.
The complainant said that the said accused Narinder Singh told them that police is demanding Rs 1 lakh to free his brother-in-law and he can help them in settling the matter in Rs 50,000. Confused by the demand, the complainant paid an advance of Rs 30,000 to the accused. After the matter was brought into the notice of District Police Ramban, the said accused was called and he confessed of taking the money as a bribe on the name of police to cheat the complainant.
The accused Narinder Singh has tried to tarnish the image and reputation of police in society and on receipt of the instant complaint, a case under FIR Number 218/2021 under Section 420 IPC has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation taken up.
