JAMMU, Dec 21: Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital (ASCOMS) today signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Artemis Cardiac Care (ACC) Gurugram to set up a Centre of Excellence (CoEC) in Cardiac Sciences to provide comprehensive cardiology services at ASCOMS & Hospital under the banner of ASCOMS Heart Care Center.
Heart disease is among the top killer in India and every third senior citizen is suffering from Hypertension and every fourth death is because of Coronary diseases. Prevalence of Coronary disease is approximately 60 million. The death rate in coronary disease is about 27% and in the age group of 40 to 69 years, the death rate is even more i.e. 45%, so to provide quality cardiac services to the people of Jammu for 24x7x365 days, the MOA was signed with Artemis Cardiac Care headed by Dr Manjinder Sandhu.
Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal – ASCOMS, stated that today’s MoA signing ceremony can be described as “a dream come true to the people of Jammu”. He appraised the gathering that ASCOMS has been the best gift to the people of Jammu by their revered president late Dharam Vir Batra, who had only one objective of serving the society. The venture is based on the necessity to avoid traveling out of J&K UT to have first-class cardiac care within Jammu, he said and concluded with a remark that this association shall be very beneficial to the healthcare services at Jammu.
Under the Memorandum of Agreement, ACC & ASCOMS will work together to provide better cardiac facilities for patients in J&K. Speaking about the association, Dr Kapil Mohan (Head Strategy – ACC) said, “This MoA will act as the cornerstone of a long-term collaboration to optimize healthcare outcomes for patients in J&K. This will help to optimize patients’ journey beyond treatment, aiding early diagnosis for cardiac patients and enhancing the capabilities of the healthcare ecosystem by providing best in class medical facility & treatment procedure”.
President of the society Dr Narender Dhruv Batra, Dr Manjinder Sandhu, Board of Directors – ACC and Manik Batra (member of the Governing Body) were also present on the occasion.
