UDHAMPUR, Dec 21: Udhampur police today arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 5.2 kgs of cannabis like substance from his possession.
The consignment was being smuggled in a vehicle bearing Registration Number JK02AP-4324, coming from Kashmir side, which was intercepted by a police party at naka point under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station(PS).
Driver of the vehicle, identified as Sameer Khan, son of Ata Mohd Khan, resident of Anantnag, was arrested on the spot. The recovered contraband substance as well as the vehicle was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR 480/2021, under Section 8/20 NDPS Act, has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway. The arrest and recovery were made by SHO Udhampur, Inspector, Chaman Gorkha, under the supervision of Anwar ul Haq, Additional, SP Udhampur and Sahil Mahajan, DySP Headquarters, Udhampur.
