JAMMU, Dec 22: All J&K PoJK 1947 Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum has expressed its reservation over the non functioning of street lights in Jammu city for the last two months especially in Nanak Nagar and it’s adjoining areas which are in darkness with the result robberies are taking place day to day.
The Forum general secretary Surjit Singh said free toll numbers published in the papers are dummy and every time people receive no response after dialing the number and there is busy tone always. All the street lights have become the show pieces only.
The efforts of the sitting corporators to restore the power supply are outrightly rejected by the departments, the Forum added.
That on the one hand Jammu is going to become Smart city and on the other hand it plunging into darkness. “We urge upon the authorities to look into the matter and take stern action against the erring persons and ensure lighting of street lights during night hours’’.
