Gupta retires after 36 yrs of meritorious services

JAMMU, July 31: Pradeep Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, retired from the service today bringing to culmination an illustrious career spanning 36 years.
Mr Gupta joined Kashmir Administrative Service in the year 1977 after completing his post-graduation from Delhi University. After serving in the departments of Revenue, Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Excise and Sales Tax, he remained posted as Special Secretary with Chief Secretary during nineties when militancy was at its peak.
He twice served as Director, Rural Development and was sponsored for a Diploma Course by the Government of India at the Institute of Social Studies The Hague, Netherlands in the year 2003. On return, Mr Gupta served as Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Director Industries and Commerce, Excise Commissioner and thereafter as Commissioner Secretary, CAPD and Transport Departments.
Mr Gupta was awarded a gold medal and Rs 51,000 for his meritorious service on Republic Day 2006. There was relative calm and peace in Jammu region during the tenure of Mr Gupta as Divisional Commissioner.
Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu bid a warm farewell to Mr Gupta, on his superannuation, at a simple but impressive function held at Deputy Commissioner office.
Mr Sahu spoke at length about the meritorious services of Divisional Commissioner and said that Mr Gupta would be remembered for his public friendly, prompt approach and extending help to the needy, poor and downtrodden segments of the society.
Farewell was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioners, SDMs, Tehsildars and other officers of the DDC/DC office Jammu.
