JAMMU, Dec 24: IIM Jammu and IIT Jammu have started a joint dual-degree program (B Tech and MBA) from the current academic year 2021-22.
Under the program, IIT Jammu will offer courses on B Tech whereas IIM Jammu will offer courses on MBA. The program is divided into two distinct stages: The initial four years for the B Tech Program, to be pursued at IIT Jammu and the last two years for the MBA program, to be pursued at IIM Jammu. The admission for B Tech in the joint dual-degree program for the Academic Year 2021-22 has been done through JEE (Advance). The admission procedure followed the Reservation Policy as per the Government of India Rules.
The first batch of students was welcomed to the dual-degree program- first of its kind B Tech-MBA course offered collaboratively by IIT Jammu & IIM Jammu- by Directors of both the premier institutions. The dual-degree program was earlier launched by Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah during his visit to inaugurate the campus & research facility at IIT Jammu in October 2021.
The orientation lectures were delivered by Prof Manoj Singh Gaur and Prof B S Sahay, Directors of IIT Jammu and IIM Jammu respectively who introduced this unique dual-degree program to the first-year students of IIT Jammu. It is important to note that this 6-year long, dual-degree program will offer B Tech students of IIT Jammu an opportunity to pursue an MBA degree directly after their graduation without having to qualify CAT; given they maintain a 7.0+ GPA throughout their course of study.
The program fee will be applicable as per IIT Jammu norms for different branches of engineering plus an additional fee of management modules during the B Tech. After successful completion of B Tech from IIT Jammu with 7 CGPA and above, the students will be eligible for admission to the MBA program at IIM Jammu with the existing fee structure at the time of admission.
