Private schools’ owners hold protest, demand start of physical classes

JAMMU, Dec 24: J&K Private Schools Association (JKPSA) Jammu held a protest here today against the UT administration, demanding start of offline classes in the UT and withdrawal of all orders issued by Fee Fixation & Regulation Committee (FFRC) on hit and trial basis for private schools.
Representatives of private schools from all over the Jammu province participated in the protest. Holding banners and placards in their hands, the protesting school owners and members of the management raised slogans in support of their demands.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Gupta (Association general secretary) quoted orders issued by Fee Fixation & Regulation Committee (FFRC) for private schools and resolution of 50 per cent fee reduction passed by JMC and said that there is exploitation of private schools owners due to number of bottlenecks and delay in reopening of the schools for physical classes in J&K. Gupta said that since August this year, physical classes were started in the schools of neighbouring states but in Jammu and Kashmir, Government is yet to take a decision in this regard. He said that online mode of education has become a profit generating source of big IT companies and claimed that students are worst sufferer as online education cannot evolve a concept of team spirit, co-operation and work culture among them.
He demanded opening of schools for physical classes in the UT, immediate withdrawal of all orders issued by FFRC on for private schools, implementation of fee rules of 2019 and release of one time financial aid for the private school teachers (announced already out of SDRF) affected due to country wide lockdown. He also appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to constitute a monitoring cell to check the discrepancies which FFRC is regularly committing while fixing fee for private schools of J&K.
