RAMBAN, Dec 29: Demanding constituency status, a large number of people assembled at main market Gool and held protest here today.
As per reports, carrying placards, a large number of people including political and social workers, shopkeepers and local people assembled at main market Gool and held protest demanding constituency status for Gool.
Led by DDC Chairperson Dr Shamshada Shan, the protestors raised slogans in favour of their demand.
While speaking, DDC Chairperson said that they are having apprehensions that Gool area will be bifurcated. “Some parts of the Gool will be included in Banihal constituency and some in Arnas constituency, which we don’t accept”, she said and demanded constituency status for Gool.
During protest, the shopkeepers also expressed their resentment by closing down their business establishments.
The protestors also gave total bandh call tomorrow to press more aggressively towards their demand of constituency status.
People will face manifold problems if Gool area of Ramban district is bifurcated, a protestor said.
“We will not allow any bifurcation of Gool area. If Government fails to redress our demand of constituency status to Gool, we will protest in aggressive manner and will block the vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway till our demand is not redressed”, he added.
