State abode of composite culture: DyCM

JAMMU, Mar 18:  Deputy Chief Minister  Tara Chand today said the State is famous for its age old composite culture and people from across the nation and abroad famous are visiting pilgrim tourist destinations of the State.
Mr. Tara Chand was speaking at the Bhumi Pujan ceremony of Bharat Sewa Ashram Sangh (BSAS) at Panj Garian, Nagrota.
Giving detail of activities of BSAS, State president  S.C. Katoch informed that the organization is involved in promoting spirituality through its activities and would construct hospital, school for the needy, besides a Yatri Niwas for those visiting the State for pilgrimage.
The spiritual society was started by Yogacharya Paruva Nand ji Maharaj in the year 1896 and has its branches in India and abroad The BSAS runs a free medical camp for the pilgrims during Shri Amarnath ji yatra.
Assuring support of government to pilgrim tourism, the Deputy Chief Minister said tourism is back bone of the State and major initiatives have been taken to promote pilgrim tourism in the State, adding that the state is abode of great reshis and spiritual personalities and people from all faiths and religions visit famous shrines spread all over the State.
He said philanthropy work by NGOs and other spiritual organizations for facilitating pilgrims is a welcome step and encouragement needs to be given to such activities.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Padam Shree S.P. Verma, Secretary, PCC  Narinder Sharma and Ex-MLA, Nagrota  Shiv Dev Singh.
