KISHTWAR, Jan 2: Atholi police today foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 8 bovines from Layie Padder area.
“Acting on specific information, Inspector Vikas Jasrotia (SHO police station Atholi) accompanied by PSI Surjeet Singh under the supervision of SDPO Atholi Vikram Singh laid a naka at Laie Padder area of Kishtwar,” police sources said.
They said while checking of the vehicles, 8 bovine animals were found loaded in a vehicle bearing registration number JK17-7675 (Mahindra pickup) without any permission. Accordingly, sources said, the vehicle was seized and its driver was arrested on the spot.
In this regard, a case FIR number 01/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at police station Atholi and investigation taken up.
