Congress appeals PM, Sonia to sanction package for Chenab Valley people

JAMMU, Aug 3: Congress appealed to the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to sanction the package for Chenab Valley.
In a joint statement, senior Congress leaders including MLA Inderwal GM Saroori, MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar, MLA Chenani Krishan Chander, Naresh Kumar Gupta and Sham Lal Bhagat, MLCs and State secretary PCC Thakur Jughal Bhandari also requested the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to get the package sanctioned and distribution of relief.
National Conference (NC) leaders are exposed before the public as they are playing with the sentiments of the sufferers for their personal political interests, they alleged.
They demanded that earthquake-hit Doda and Kishtwar districts should be brought under National School Safety Project (NSSP), which will help in mobilising resources in case of a natural disaster. With an effective management plan, people can minimise the damage caused by these events”, they added.
People are living in very pitiable conditions as they lost their homes, animals and farms, they informed.
They asked the district administrations of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and Congress leaders of block and district levels to reach out to affected people and mobilise resources for rebuilding the damaged infrastructure.
They alleged that the State Government has announced 3 month free ration in May for quake victims, but till date it has not been distributed in tehsil Chatroo of district Kishtwar. They demanded immediately distribution of ration among the quakes victims.
