Mayor, RRC visit Durganagar to ascertain problems

JAMMU, Jan 5: Mayor Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta and Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner, A.K.Pandita along with senior officers from different departments visited Sector-2, Durganagar and Roopnagar to take stock of genuine problems being faced by the inmates there.
The programme was organised by Welfare Committee,Sector-2, Durganagar in collaboration with Durga Mandal BJP KDD led by its president Bushan Lal Raina.
Sanjay Ganjoo president Welfare Committee,Sector-2, Durganagar submitted a memorandum to Mayor and RCM regarding the genuine problems being faced by inmates of Colony.
The memorandum demanded a park for the residents in the area, construction of roads, lanes and drains in the area with renovation of already existing roads by-lanes and drains, improvement in water supply as people of the area were facing many hardships due to water crisis and construction of passenger shed in the area.
The memorandum also highlighted the problems being faced by the Relief Holders and the PM Package employees posted in Kashmir.
They said that no enhancement in monthly relief has been made to Kashmiri migrants since 2017 which is a great injustice as the meager amount of Rs 13000 @ Rs 3250 per head is not sufficient for livelihood during the present times when the prices are sky rocketing. Though the data for the Distress Sale has been collected but it has not been implemented principally, they said.
The PM package employees who have gone under difficult circumstances to serve in the Valley have not been provided suitable accommodation as most of them are living on sharing basis or rented accommodation
The memorandum appealed for enhancement of monthly relief to the tune of Rs 25,000 so that the relief holders can honorably live. It also demanded providing of proper accommodation to the PM package employees so that they can comfortably live with their family members.
