Police foils bovine smuggling bid, rescues 13 animals

SAMBA, Jan 5: District Police Samba today foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 13 animals in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Stations (PS) of Ghagwal and Samba.
Acting on reliable information, a police party of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty in Jatwal area, signaled a truck bearing Registration Number JKO3B/7914 to stop which was coming from Jammu side and moving towards Kathua.
Seeing the police party, the driver fled away and after being chased by the cops, the driver abandoned the vehicle few meters away from the naka point and managed to escape from the spot.
During checking of the vehicle, 10 cattle were found laden inside it without any permission. The cattle were concealed in a tactful way under the potato sacks to avoid being caught by the police.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 02/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
Similarly in another incident, a police party of Police Post RA Talli rescued three more bovines at Village Pangdour, Samba which were being transported in a Mahindra Scorpio with Registration Number, PB07T/6866 coming from border road Samba side.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 03/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Samba and investigation started.
All the bovines in both incidents were rescued and shifted to safer place. Both the vehicle used for transportation of bovines were also seized on spot.
