JAMMU, Aug 3: Police today foiled the murder bid by arresting four notorious gangsters including a Sarpanch along with weapons from the Channi Himmat area.
Giving details, a police spokesman said that yesterday it was reliably learnt that four dreaded criminals having ‘Desi’ pistol and sharp edged weapons were roaming in a car in Sainik Colony area in search of a youth to eliminate him on the basis of old enmity.
Police teams headed by SS Sambyal, SDPO East, SHO Police Station Channi Himmat Inspector Gurman Singh, SHO Police Station Trikuta Nagar Inspector Chanchal Singh and incharge police post Sainik Colony Sumit Sharma under the supervision of SSP Jammu Atul Goel and SP South Rajeshwar Singh fanned in different locations of Sainik Colony and started checking of vehicles, he added.
Police party intercepted the vehicle near Babber chowk, Sainik Colony. However, on seeing the police party the persons sitting in the car tried to run away but were captured by the alert police parties.
The notorious gangsters were identified as Sarpanch of Prthipur Bishnah Ranjeet Singh alias Lugga, son of Karan Singh, Mithun Verma alias Deepu, son of Dev Raj Verma of Phinder, RS Pura, Narinder Singh alias Vikku, son of Pritam Singh of Deoli and Joginder Singh, son of Prabhu Singh of Deoli, Bishnah.
During checking, police recovered desi pistol, one charra pistol, three sharp edged weapons (tokas) and one baseball rod from their possession.
During questioning, the accused revealed that they had an enmity with a youth of Sainik Colony and they planned to eliminate him, police spokesmen said, adding that all the accused are having cases registered against them at different police stations.
A case under FIR number 72/13 under Section 3/25, 4/25 Arms Act and 34 RPC has been registered at Channi Himmat Police Station and further investigation is going on.
