JAMMU, Jan 6: Akhnoor Police arrested four persons for poaching National Bird Peacock in village Karkoi in tehsil Akhnoor here today.
As per police sources, on specific information that some persons are poaching National Bird Peacock in village Karkoi, a team from Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Inspector Hilal Azhar immediately rushed to the spot and arrested four poachers.
The arrested persons were identified as Ishtiyaq Ahmed, son of Mohammad Aslam, Safdar Hussain, son of Mohammad Ayub, Mohammad Farooq, son of Mohammad Yousaf and Mohammad Tazeem, son of Fazal Din, all residents of Mendhar District Doda. A Xylo car, gun and dead peacock were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.
A case under FIR Number 6/2022 under Sections 9/51 Wildlife Act r/w 3/25 Arms Act, 429 and 34 IPC has been registered against the arrested persons at Police station Akhnoor and investigation set into motion.
