SMVDSB, Rajouri Panchayat bag Water Awards

JAMMU, Jan 7: Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat today announced 3rd National Water Awards.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) got the first rank in ‘Best Institutions/RWA/Religious Organization for Campus usage while village Jamola in Rajouri district got 2nd rank on ‘Best Village Panchayat’ in North Zone.
The SMVDSB under the supervision of CEO Ramesh Kumar has converted Urinals into waterless urinals and connected all Washrooms with STP and treated water reuse of flushing and landscape.
Treat water was used for fire hydrant. Roof water on new track was used for water conservation. The water conservation was also done in Stadium, University and Hospital by the SMVDSB for which it was awarded for the second consecutive year.
The Shrine Board also used STP treated water in Katra stadium and did plantation of one lakh in a year. Check dam and water ponds were created in Trikuta hills for water conservation and water ATM was used for saving water.
With the mission ‘Every Drop Counts, the Board adopted a multi-faceted strategy for making the Shrine area a zero affluent and zero waste zone.
