Two theft cases solved, stolen items recovered

RAJOURI, Jan 13: Police today claimed to have solved two theft cases by arresting the accused and recovering stolen items/cash from their possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri Mohammad Aslam said that a case FIR Number 10/2022 under sections 457/380 IPC was registered in police station Rajouri after an incident of theft took place in a bar/wine shop located at Jawahar Nagar during the intervening night 6th and 7th January.
He said a police team headed by SHO Rajouri Fareed Ahmed started investigation into the matter and zeroed-in on some suspects during which a suspect namely Zaheer Abbas alias Billa son of Mohammad Latief resident of Dagani Nowshera was detained.
The SSP said during questioning, the Suspect confessed the crime. “The accused was involved in several other cases of thefts. He was arrested and stolen cash of Rs 1,54,000 was recovered on his disclosure,” he said, adding, further investigation into the matter is going on.
He said another theft case registered in police station Rajouri vide FIR Number 07/2022 under sections 457, 380 IPC was also solved. He said the case was registered on 05/01/2022 after a theft incident in which accused decamped with some valuables from a structure. He said during investigation of the theft case by a police team headed by SHO Rajouri, a suspect was detained for questioning.
“The accused identified as Mohammad Showkat son of Mir Mohammad resident of Khari Karmara Poonch confessed during questioning that he was involved in this case of theft,” the SSP said, adding, stolen property including one inverter battery, one 10 KVA stabilizer, one gas cylinder, two inverters, four electric heaters, two polar heaters, etc were recovered from the rented accommodation of accused in Chowkian Palma village. Further investigation into the matter is going on, he further added.
