JAMMU, Jan 13: The Shardhalipi Section of Sanjeevani Shardha Kendra (SSK), Anand Nagar, Bohri, Jammu held a meeting today under the chairmanship of Avtar Krishan Trakroo, president SSK and discussed ways and means with regard to promotion of Shardha Script at the grass-root level.
In one voice, the members while advocating for the introduction of Shardha Script of Kashmiri language in primary classes of schools in the Union Territory, said that there was no need of any detailed presentation on the subject as the matter was fully covered in New Education Policy (NEP) of the Government of India, released in 2017, which underscored the need for the promotion of old languages, dialects and scripts.
Sanjay Pandita, in-charge of Shardhalipi Section (SSK) said that Shardha was a great historical legacy and heritage of this part of the country, adding that historical, philosophical and religious manuscripts and cultural documents including that of other religions were preserved in this script, so introduction of Shardha Script was the need of the hour.
“A huge source of India’s cultural and historical knowledge is in Shardha Script. Hence it is a collective and Constitutional duty on all of us to take concrete steps in preserving and promoting this sacred historical legacy,” said the members.
The members further said that they have already given representation with regard to introduction of Shardhalipi in J&K schools to Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, besides Principal Secretary to Government, Education Department and Chairman of J&K Board of School Education.
Prominent among others who attended the meeting included Dr MT Krishan, Radhay Shyam, Dr Sundeep Ji, Chand Ji and Bansi Lal Naru.
