JAMMU, Jan 14: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir today designated Deputy Commissioners/District Collectors as ‘Appropriate Government’ within their jurisdiction for acquiring land for ‘public purpose’ for an area up to 400 kanals.
Statutory order in this regard has been issued by the Government in exercise of the powers conferred by proviso to clause (e) of Section 3 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (30 of 2013).
“The Government of Jammu and Kashmir hereby designate Deputy Commissioner/District Collector of each district of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as ‘Appropriate Government’ within their respective jurisdiction for acquiring land for ‘public purpose’ under the said Act for an area not exceeding 400 Kanal (50 acre),” read the notification, issued today by Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Commissioner/Secretary, Revenue Department.
