Bovines smuggling bid foiled; 27 cattle rescued, one arrested

KATHUA, Jan 16: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 27 cattle and arresting one person.
As per police spokesman, a team from Police Station Rajbagh led by SHO Inspector Amit Sangra under the supervision of SDPO Border Sachit Mahajan and SSP Kathua RC Kotwal laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AL-0541.
During checking, police team rescued 14 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Mohammad Yaqoob, son of Jamal Din of Saral Tehsil Haveli District Poonch.
A case under FIR Number 09/2022 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rajbagh and investigation initiated.
Meanwhile, a team led by Incharge Police Post Industrial Estates Kathua Inspector Rajinder Khajuria under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua Shammi Kumar and SSP Kathua RC during checking at NHW Sakta Chack intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AL-0541.
During frisking, police team rescued 13 bovine animals and seized the truck, while the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot.
A case under FIR Number 20/2022 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua and further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
