No water supply for 2 weeks at Waliabad Sidhra

Jammu, Jan 19: The residents of Waliabad locality in Sidhra area of Jammu are facing acute scarcity of drinking water since the beginning of the New Year due to “callous attitude” of the concerned officials who remain unmoved despite repeated complaints and protests by the distressed consumers.
A delegation of the aggrieved residents of Lane No:1, Waliabad visited the main office of the Jal Shakti department last week to invite the attention of the higher ups after the water supply, which is being provided for an hour on alternate days, was stopped without any intimation about two weeks ago.
Faced with tremendous hardships, the consumers are forced to get the water from private water tanker operators at exorbitant rates.
“After our delegation visited the chief engineer Jal Shak department and lodged a protest over the non-availability of drinking water, there was some action on the part of the field staff the next day and the water was supplied for an hour on Saturday. We were happy that the grievance stands resolved and were hopeful of getting the normal supply,” a resident said.
