JAMMU, Jan 27: Jhajjar Kotli and Manwal Police jointly arrested a murderer within 24 hours.
As per police sources, information was received yesterday through reliable sources at Police Post Manwal that a dead body of a person namely Uttam Singh, son of Major Singh of Seri Kalan Tehsil Dansal District Jammu is lying near his home.
Acting over the information, police team rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body to mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for autopsy.
As the death of the deceased had occurred in suspicious circumstances, inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC were initiated and enquiry was set into motion.
The post-mortem of the deceased got conducted through Board of Doctors at GMCH Jammu. The post-mortem report pointed towards presence of multiple deep cuts at the backside of skull indicating towards murder.
On this using human intelligence and technical surveillance, a person namely Chaman Lal alias Chuchu, son of Sat Pal of Utterbehni District Samba, who was accompanying the deceased during the intervening night of January 25 and 26, 2022 was zeroed in as the prime suspect.
Using technical surveillance and after a number of raids at different locations, the prime suspect was arrested from his home. During interrogation, the accused admitted of committing this heinous crime.
A case under FIR Number 10/2022 under Section 302 IPC stands registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the motive behind this heinous crime.
The arrest was made by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Devinder Singh and Incharge Police Post Manwal PSI Ayub Khan under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Pardeep Kumar.
