Two arrested for smuggling poppy straw to Punjab

RAMBAN, Jan 29: Police arrested a rider and pillion rider for smuggling poppy straw to Punjab.
As per police sources, during checking at Shan Palace a team from Police Station Ramban intercepted a Punjab bound scooty bearing registration number PB91G-7533.
During checking, police team recovered 13.90 kilograms poppy straw from the possession of the rider and pillion rider and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Labh Singh, son of Satnam Singh and Raghbir Singh, son of Gurnam Singh, both residents of Punjab.
To dodge the police, the accused were trying to smuggle the consignment to Punjab on two-wheeler but police foiled their bid and arrested them.
A case under FIR Number 26/2022 under Section 8/15/29 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Ramban and investigation set into motion.
The overall recovery and arrest was made by police party headed by Insp Sandeep Charak, SHO Ramban under supervision of Pardeep Singh Sen, DySP Hqrs Ramban and under overall supervision of Mohita Sharma, SP Ramban.
Ramban police is requesting again and again to general public to remain away from this drug menace and provide information to police if any such activity is going on in your area.
