4 drug peddlers held in Kulgam, Budgam

Srinagar, Jan 29: Police today said to have arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam & Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Kulgam, officers at a checkpoint established near Kund gate in the Qazigund area intercepted a person roaming in a suspicious condition.
Police said that he has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat son of Ab Sattar Bhat resident of Khargund Qazigund.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 10 grams of Brown Sugar from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
In another action, police said, a police party of PS Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Laroo Crossing intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the police party tried to escape from the spot but the alert party apprehended him tactfully.
“During checking, 12Kgs of Poppy Straw, 03 grams of Brown Sugar & Digital Weighing Machine concealed in a nylon bag was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Sarwar Ahmad Bhat @Sar Molvi son of Mohamad Maqbool Bhat resident of Labripora Kulgam,” police said.
Police said that he has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custoday.
Meanwhile, in Budgam, police said, officers from PS Budgam intercepted two suspicious persons at a checkpoint established at Bathar Budgam.
Police said during their search, officers were able to recover 335gms of Charas covered in maize leaves from their possession.
“They have been identified as Gulzar Ahmed Paul son of Abdul Rehman Paul and Nisar Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar both residents of Narkara Budgam. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody,” police said.
