DB directive in PIL on dilapidated condition of Mendhar Court

JAMMU, Jan 31: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Bar Association Mendhar highlighting the dilapidated condition of the Munsiff Court building, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Sindhu Sharma has directed the AAG to find out the latest position and submit a status report.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, Division Bench observed, “the Infrastructure Committee of the High Court has already approved the DPR for the construction of the Court Complex at Mendhar as prepared by the Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) Division Poonch and counter-signed by the Chief Engineer at an estimated cost of Rs 1234.60 lakh”.
“The recommendation of the Infrastructure Committee on being accepted by the Chief Justice has already been sent to the Secretary to Government, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and the progress thereof is not known”, the DB further observed.
Accordingly, DB directed AAG Ravinder Gupta appearing for Com/Secy Finance and AAG Amit Gupta for Law Secretary to find out the latest position and submit a status report.
