JAMMU, Jan 31: National Conference Students Union (NCSU) today held a protest outside the office of Controller of Examinations in University of Jammu, over delay in academic session of BSc Nursing students,
Scores of NCSU members led by provincial working president Mahesh Bakshi assembled this morning outside the office of Controller of Examinations, JU and raised slogans against the management of Nursing colleges.
Speaking on the occasion, Bakshi said that the academic session of BSc Nursing students used to start from the month of September and concluded in the same month next year. “It delayed by four months and started from the month of January after outbreak of pandemic but now, February month has come and examinations are nowhere in sight,” he added.
Bakshi alleged that instead of conducting online classes for 7 months for these Nursing students, classes were conducted only for two months and the whole syllabus is pending. He said when students approach authorities in University of Jammu with their grievance, the authorities of Nursing colleges alleged that they had no staff for conducting classes as their staff was on adhoc and their contracts had expired.
The NCSU president said that in the pressure of JU, authorities of these colleges are conducting classes even on January 26 and Sundays. He demanded the Controller of Examinations to hold the examination of BSc Nursing students without any delay with reduced syllabus as their academic session has already delayed too much.
Later, a deputation of NCSU also met the Controller of Examinations who assured them of early favourable action.
