KATHUA, Jan 31: In furtherance to tightening noose of bovine smugglers within the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal today rescued 10 bovines within the district and seized two vehicles involved in smuggling of animals.
Police said In first instance today a team led by PSI Rohit Manhas incharge Police Post (PP) Chadwal while on naka checking duty in its jurisdictional area near Sanji Morh intercepted one vehicle (Mahindra Load Carrier) bearing Registration Number, PB7BY-3463 enrouted from Punjab towards Kashmir via Link road Sanji Morh to Tanda road which was being driven by an unknown person. He was signaled to stop for checking. Sensing danger, driver of the vehicle managed to fled away from the spot while leaving behind the vehicle. During checking of the vehicle, five bovines were found loaded in it. Thereafter all the bovines were rescued and one vehicle involved in the same was seized. On this an instant case has been registered at PS Rajbagh vide FIR No. 14/2022 U/S 188/IPC, 11 PCA Act and further investigation is going on.
While in another instance a police team led by Inspector, Amit Sangra SHO, PS Rajbgah during naka checking duty at link road Bhagwal Chann Arrorian noticed one suspicious vehicle(Mahindra Load Carrier)bearing Registration Number HP38F-5756 which was being driven by an unknown person. On seeing naka party, driver of the vehicle managed to fled away from the spot while leaving behind the vehicle. On thorough checking five more bovines were found to be loaded on it. All the bovines were rescued and the vehicle involved was also seized. In police action another case vide FIR No. 15/2022 U/S 188/IPC,11PCA Act has been registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation into this matter has been initiated. Thus overall 10 bovines were rescued, and two vehicles were seized.
District Police Kathua seek support from people to share information about bovine smuggling on 100 with police for the cause. The identity of the person giving information will be kept confidential, police said.
