JAMMU, Feb 1: Chairman Trustee J&K Dharmarth Trust and former Member Parliament, Dr Karan Singh today said that the pivotal role played by Prof Vishaw Murti Shastri in promoting Sanskrit in the arid belts of J&K and elsewhere is simply unrivaled and incomparable.
Prof Shastri is heading the Jammu Kashmir Vidvat Parishad as president, advisory member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine University Gurukul, advisory member of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and council member of Dharmarth Trust.
“The people of the Union Territory of J&K and even the entire country owe so much to Prof Shastri for his phenomenal work towards the society. The persona of Prof Shastri is epitome of hard work and elegance which is difficult to find in today’s fast and materialistic world”, reads statement of Dr Karan Singh who bestowed honour upon Prof Shastri after the latter received much coveted Padma Shri Award for his momentous contributions in the fields of Literature and Education.
In an impressive function held at Shri Raghunath ji Temple here, Ajatshatru Singh, Trustee Dharmarth Trust took the honours of felicitating Dr Shastri on the behalf of Dr Karan Singh. Ranvijay Singh, Trustee J&K Dharmarth Trust honoured Prof Vishaw Murti by presenting a souvenir.
On the occasion, DC Jammu Anshul Garg and ADC Jammu Satish Sharma also graced the occasion. Pt Shiv Raina, Chairman J&K Dharmarth Trust Advisory Committee, threw light on the life history of Prof Vishaw Murti.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajatshatru Singh said that Prof Shastri has acted as a beacon of light for others in Jammu and Kashmir to follow his pursuits and act as an asset by bringing name and fame through dint of hard work while emulating the life struggles of Dr Sahib.
Prof Vishwa Murti Shastri, while speaking on the occasion, said that he will continue to work for the people of J&K by sharing experience and knowledge which he has attained during the journey so far.
The function was organized by president of J&K Dharmarth Trust, Advocate Ajay Gandotra while secretary Dr Gopal Parthasarthi Sharma conducted the proceedings of the programme.
