JAMMU, Feb 2: Police used force and detained several aspirants of Border/Women Battalions of J&K Police today took to roads and tried to block main Tawi Bridge near Maharaja Hari Singh statue.
Hundreds of unemployed youth including boys and girls who has applied for various posts of Border/Women Battalions of J&K Police, today assembled outside Exhibition Ground Jammu, where they staged a strong protest demanding the authorities to conduct written examination for the posts of Border/Women Battalion and cancel the new advertisement issued by the concerned authorities.

Raising slogans against the LG administration and concerned authorities, the protesting unemployed youth while holding placards in their hands, moved towards main Tawi Bridge in the form of a rally but a strong contingent of police deployed at the site restricted their move.
As the protesting youth were adamant to move towards Tawi Bridge, the police force was used and during this process, some protesting youth received minor injuries and one of them even became unconscious and had to be hospitalized. The police detained several protestors but released them later.
Speaking to the media at the protest site, the protesting unemployed youth said that they have passed the Physical and Medical fitness tests but waiting for last three years for conduct of written test, which the concerned authorities have failed to conduct. They said now the authorities have issued a new notification for recruitment in Border/Women Battalion and are allowing more candidates to apply for the same.
They said most of the candidates, who had applied three years ago, have been waiting for their written examination for last three years and now they are getting over aged and therefore, it is hard for them to compete with the new candidates. They appealed to the LG Manoj Sinha to intervene and direct the authorities concerned to cancel the new advertisement notification and conduct written test immediately.
