Separate funds earmarked for rural population
*439 militants killed since Art 370 abrogation

JAMMU, Feb 2: The Central Government has provided funds to the tune of Rs 27,274 crore to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Rs 3097.14 crore to the UT of Ladakh for completion of ongoing projects and works since 2019.
This was stated by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
“As many as 1,41,815 new works/projects have been taken up under various sectors/schemes in Jammu and Kashmir while the number of works/projects in the UT of Ladakh was 17,556 since 2019,” Rai said.
It may be mentioned here that the Central Government had abrogated special status of erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh on August 5, 2019.
Rai said funds amounting to Rs 27,274 crore have been provided to Jammu and Kashmir and Rs 3097.14 crore to Ladakh for completion of these works/projects.
“Funds amounting to Rs 19,142.63 crore have been earmarked for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Rs 1810.97 crore to the UT of Ladakh for areas predominantly inhabited by rural population,” the Union Minister of State for Home said.
Rai said as many as 439 terrorists and 109 security personnel were killed in 541 terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir since Article 370 was repealed on August 5, 2019.
Replying to another written question in Rajya Sabha, Rai said 98 civilians were also killed in these incidents and private properties worth about Rs 5.3 crore were damaged since then.
“During these incidents, no significant public property has been damaged,” he added.
Nearly 1,700 Kashmiri Pandits were appointed in various Government departments by the Jammu and Kashmir administration since August 5, 2019, Rai said.
He said as per the data provided by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, 44,684 Kashmiri migrant families were registered with the Office of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), Jammu, comprising 1,54,712 individuals.
“In order to rehabilitate Kashmiri migrant families, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has appointed 1,697 such persons since August 5, 2019 and selected additional 1,140 persons in this regard,” he said while replying to a written question.
